A Healing Touch

A Healing Touch

The Night of Steel, November 5, 2022, a Gala event benefitting the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation was a wonderful opportunity for the heart series I create to make a debut in Pittsburgh. The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is one I’ve personally benefitted from, and I hope to continue to contribute to the work they do for some time to come. I deeply appreciate the work of the foundation, and the community of doctors, nurses, and advocates working for a cure! It felt befitting to create a piece filled with love for the event auction.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when I was 19 years old, though the onset of my symptoms began when I was 12. I’ve had several surgeries and have been on my own medication journey, and firmly believe that the stability and health I have experienced are due in part to science, but also advocacy. The strong team that I work with has both my respect and my trust, but I’ve also learned quite a bit about the disease that has become a bit of a lifetime partner of mine. Knowing that I will likely not experience the cure, I have been profoundly inspired by the successes and advancements science has brought those with this diagnosis. I am deeply appreciative of those who have dedicated their education, careers, and passion to fighting this battle with those like myself, and hope that stories like my own will inspire others like them.

“Healing Touch” sold at auction at The Night of Steel at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, and now resides in a Private Collection. This piece measures 20” x 20” x 2.25. It was created using acrylic, watercolor, metallic watercolor, and ink and is sealed with a Liquitex satin varnish. A certificate of authenticity was provided with this piece.
