Art Full of Heart

Heart health is extremely important to me. Members of my family have struggled with various forms of heart conditions, so the American Heart Association is an organization that I hold a lot of respect for. I considered for quite a bit of my youth even becoming a cardiac surgeon. Specifically, working with pediatric patients experiencing Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), more commonly known as Murmurs. I am fascinated by how far science has brought the field of Cardiac medicine, and repairs for young pediatric patients are quite promising.

My piece, “Force of Nature” sold at Auction on behalf of the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Heart Association at the 2023 Heart Ball.

The American Heart Association works to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Their website has a wealth of information on healthy living, healthy eating, leading a healthy lifestyle, fitness, and even the benefits to your heart by having a pet! I personally love knowing that bonding with my beloved furry family members helps promote heart health. That just makes good sense to me. Take a look at the site for a closer look into the above information, and for more on how spending time with your best friend, or how walking is a healthy activity. There are also ideas for cooking and some great, heart-healthy recipes on the site: https://www.Heart.org

Each year Every A Woman of Impact is selected from among nominees who build teams, raise campaign funds, promote heart health, and inspire those in their network leading up to National Wear Red Day to support the American Heart Association’s Mission. The woman who is seen as the pivotal change maker, who has raised the largest amount of funds overall locally, is coined the Woman of Impact for the year. Nationwide, the woman who raises the most funds nationally, making the biggest impact overall becomes the annual American Heart Association National Woman of Impact Winner.

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, is a life skill that I’m proud to have learned. I first learned CPR As a teen, and The techniques have been applicable in unexpected, vital ways. I felt confident and capable. I highly recommend that anyone who does not know the steps to apply themselves in the event of an emergency look into classes local to themselves. The below link is for those in Pittsburgh.

Classes are about 3 hours long, and certification is valid for two years.
